Physicochemical properties
Colorless crystals, readily deliquescent.
Density: 1.67
Melting point: 152°C (decomposes). Soluble in water, ethanol, and glycerol; insoluble in diethyl ether. Colorless monoclinic crystals. Density: 1.67 g/cm³ (at 17°C). Highly hygroscopic; decomposes upon exposure to moisture above 151°C.
