Caprolactam

CAS NO:

105-60-2

It is primarily used to produce caprolactam resin, caprolactam fibers, and synthetic leather, among other products. It also serves as a pharmaceutical intermediate in the synthesis of several drugs, including pentetrazole, methylenedioxymethamphetamine, and lauroylurea. The vast majority of caprolactam is employed in the production of polyamide‑6, of which approximately 90% is used to manufacture synthetic fibers—namely, nylon‑6—and the remaining 10% is utilized as a plastic for producing gears, bearings, pipes, medical devices, and electrical and insulating materials. Additionally, it finds applications in coatings, plasticizers, and, in smaller quantities, in the synthesis of lysine. It is also used in the manufacture of polyamide‑type synthetic fibers and as a stationary phase in gas chromatography, and it plays a key role in the production of nylon‑6.

    Packaging and Storage & Transportation

Typically, a double-layer packaging system is used: the inner bag is a polyethylene film bag with heat-sealed seams, and the outer bag is a three‑in‑one composite bag made of kraft paper and polyethylene. During transport, ensure that the containers remain leak‑proof, do not topple, fall, or sustain damage. Mixing or co‑transporting with oxidizers, alkalis, food‑grade chemicals, or similar substances is strictly prohibited. During transit, protect the cargo from direct sunlight, rain, and high temperatures. After vehicle transport is completed, a thorough cleaning must be carried out.
